The last possible date
for a General Election is 3 June 2010.
A change of government represents the last chance for the Hunting Act
to be repealed. If it stays on the statute books for another five years
it will be almost impossible to remove. David Cameron, who is increasingly
likely to be the next Prime Minister, has repeatedly pledged a vote on repeal
in government time. The Liberal Democrats have given no such assurance,
nor, understandably, the Labour Party.
Vote-OK was set up in 2005 as a direct consequence of the Act and shortly
before the last General Election. It has pledged itself to deliver MPs
who are sympathetic to repeal. Several of Vote-OK's target seats are
in the Hampshire area and, along with our neighbouring hunts, we shall be working
towards repeal.
This might involve: stuffing envelopes; sticking down labels; putting
up posters. There is also no substitute for sheer weight of numbers dropping
off leaflets.
Do not be any under any illusion. It really works. Political
pundits ascribe the loss of Peter Bradley's seat (The Wrekin) and Stephen Twigg's
in Enfield as a direct result of the sheer hard work of activists in these
areas, as well as major swings to sympathetic candidates. And this was with
Vote-OK having been live for only a few weeks. Think what can be achieved
after four years of preparation.

Its worth emphasising: THIS
MAY WELL BE HUNTING'S LAST CHANCE
