Our new meet hosts, who have just renovated Stillands House to the most exacting standards were perfectly happy to have unruly ponies trample the lawn. ... Thank you so much to them for everything - for getting the ‘send off’ just right and for not being in the slightest bit alarmed as trailer after trailer load of snorting ponies charged down the ramps.

...Master Tim claimed to have lost the £20 cash prize but once we’d turned him upside down and shaken him, George Evans and Gwen were the well-deserved recipients. We trailed over Baker land at the start and end of the day and Coombe-Tennant country in between and had some terrific runs. It has been ferociously cold but Charles Homan’s superb mulled wine with its secret blend of spices took the edge of most things [including the roof of your mouth - Ed]. Thanks too to everyone who brought things to eat, including, as ever, Sheila and the Hoskins family who baked especially for these Saturdays.

...Thanks also to Greg for letting us in for a few hours each time. Pretty exhausting following the younger hounds but great fun and very beautiful as the low winter sun set over the trees. The C&H have some beautiful country and we were privileged to be on such a well-maintained part of it.

...For yesterday’s meet in OSBWK country, around 15 of us made the journey to Hever where we met in the shadow of the castle at the KIng Henry VIII pub. ... Tiger traps and uprights kept us on our toes (the second of the day with a deceptive sheer drop...) and it was non-stop from 11 till 5.

...Addison’s Law, hurriedly enacted at the Pythchley earlier in the season (commemorating Mrs Lucy Addison’s valiant attempt a large hedge), allows us to count falls away from home. Thanks to the Masters and Secretaries of both packs for giving us great days when ours might have been left wanting.
